Senior years, he was selected to attend a special music and drama school at what is now the University of Northern Iowa, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

After graduating from Hudson High School, Tim went to college at the University of Iowa, in Iowa City, Iowa, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business. At the University, Tim took voice and guitar lessons along with his general business studies.
